UP-CYCLING

Generally, products are made from raw materials, but Up-cycling makes new products from recycled product, like a rug made from water bottles. Here at Chi qc we make clothes out of clothes, taking advantage of the copious second-hand gems that would otherwise be thrown into landfills. The shorts in this photo were cut out of shirts, we like to call these “Born Again Garments” (B.A.G.s).

200 BILLION+

America throws away over 200 billion pounds of textiles every decade. Not only does this pollute the earth, but they release greenhouse gases as they are burned to create space, or left to decompose. These emissions, from the U.S. alone, are equivalent to over 50 million new cars on the road!

LIFE

Behind each B.A.G. is a blend of various garments, and the story of their owners. Because of this, each piece is completely 1-of-a-kind and can never be duplicated. We value the life in things once forgotten, transforming them into something you’ll never forget.

ORGANIC COTTON

CHI07245.jpg

HEALTH BENEFITS

Organic Cotton is just as strong and soft as regular cotton, but it won’t give you cancer. Many farms that grow regular cotton use GMOs & chemical sprays that taint the air and water of surrounding communities. This increases the rate of severe birth defects, tumors, cancer, and more to innocent people. The organic cotton we source is Fair Labor & Pay with no Slave Labor allowed.

LOVE

In light of this knowledge, on the Cotton Industry, we hope to inspire others to find Love for the victims and shop Eco-Friendly.

FAIR LABOR

With the rise of Fast Fashion and desires for cheap clothing, there’s been an increase in sweatshop related deaths & abuse in the fashion industry. In 2013, a garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed on itself, killing over 1.1 thousand people. Many other workers, including 240M+ children, in these types of factories, get paid with Major Health Risks and an avg of 24¢ for a jersey that sells for 120$. This should not be.

JUSTICE

A shirt shouldn’t cost a life, Jesus said the 2nd greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as you love yourself. In this light, we should vote with our dollar against companies who abuse this right. We can do this by educating ourselves, only shopping sustainably, and purchasing second-hand. Fair Labor is 1 step for fashion, but a leap for the world.

MADE IN HOUSE

At Chi qc, we address the issues of sweatshops by simply not using them. All products are made in our own Design Studio in Los Angeles, with goals to ethically expand production. We like to collaborate with local artists and real people so that each garment gets the Love & Attention it deserves.
