ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Hi, my name is Chi and I’m the founder of Chi qc. I was born on March 4th, 1998 to a body of African and Korean descent. I was a very curious and artistic child, but the troubles of life consumed me until I had lost all hope. Right as I was on the wire, God turned my darkness into light, and on Feb 11, 2014 Chi qc was born. The name fell into my mind as I doodled on a class paper. Immediately I began to sketch clothes for the first time in my life, playing with colors and proportions. The “qc” pays homage to my hometown Charlotte, NC a.k.a. “The Queen City”. I soon prayed for guidance as my creativity expanded and The Lord made clear my purpose in life. One I would grow into as time went on.

[2] I fell in love with the laws of design, so my mother decided to place me in a summer fashion program at the Arts Institute. My first piece was a patchwork shirt that looked horrible in hindsight, but I was thrilled to create it. After a year of fashion I began to pick up on Sound Design, I figured I could score my own shows. From this talent I got into an after school Arts program and found myself in the film department, free-styling short film ideas to the film committee. I had zero knowledge of Film-making but they loved my stories so they sponsored my idea. Suddenly I was the Director of over 10 people, responsible for expensive film equipment, and freaking out. I had never used a camera in my life, nor led a team, so I pressed forward in ambiguity. Ultimately, the film was completed and I saw there was a lot to learn before I would be ready to lead others and build my company..

[3] 2 years later, in 2017, I decided to pick up Film-making again for a personal music project. With virtually no videographers in my city, I had to use my Moms free Camera from work, and create it myself. I got really good at video editing and caught the attention of many artists. A group of dancers including “King Kumo” & “Hi Key” came from Atlanta and reached out for help on a video. We made a couple videos and they all went viral. I quit my job at Target that same month and began to travel throughout the East Coast having fun, getting paid, and living young. This new life continued on for about a year until I had to watch and care for my lovely Grandpa, as he began to slip away. Upon this reality, I found my line of work unfulfilling and lacking a positive social impact. I saw Chi qc becoming less than what it was made to be, so I made a change.

[4] On April 16th, of 2018, I moved to Los Angeles California. As I transitioned into a chapter without comfort and family, I realized the issues in our world that truly needed attention. Community, Love, and Salvation. In light of this, I decided Chi qc wouldn’t adore the bottom line, but give help to the needy. Focusing on environmental impact with high quality goods, and not quick low quality goods with unfair labor. And finally, to spread the Truth, no matter what. All of this done in the confidence of Gods promise on my life, glorifying him through Chi qc. In all the “terrible” ups and downs I still thank Jesus for my life. This one, and the one to come.
